Roam (rom): to walk or travel (over or through) without purpose or direction; wander. This is the definition for the word roam as defined by Webster’s Dictionary. In life, many people are traveling down the Roamin’ Road. They are wandering aimlessly through life without purpose or direction, totally oblivious and without concern when it comes to the matter of where they will spend all of eternity. Some people don’t believe in an eternal state of existence. Some don’t believe in heaven or hell. Some believe heaven is a state of mind. Some believe that being a good person and doing good deeds will get them into heaven. Some believe all people will go to heaven: Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Catholic, etc. Some don’t believe in God. Some believe in a false god. Some don’t believe Jesus is the Savior of the world. So many people are roamin´ on different roads. Many believe they have the correct map and are traveling in the right direction, not realizing they are lost on the way. Others realize they are lost and are looking for the map that will lead them down the right path. We are all travelers journeying down a road which will eventually lead to an eternal destination. The sad and frightening reality is that most people will remain on the Roamin’ Road until they die. Listen to what the Son of God, Jesus Christ, has to say to all travelers, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)
Follow the map of Jesus Christ and take the straight and narrow road that leads to life eternal and bypass the broad road to destruction. Buckle your seatbelt and turn the lights on. It may seem a bit bumpy and dark at first, but if you travel the whole road, it will lead you to a most glorious eternal destination. Be sure to read and follow the signs carefully so as to stay on the right course; beware of detours!
You have come to a cross road my friend. To your left is the Roamin’ Road. The devil is holding out his hand and is offering you independence from God. He is offering you the lusts, pleasures and sins of the world. But he has lied to you. He has not told you that God’s eternal wrath and judgment are also on this road. This is hell’s road.
To your right is the Roman Road. Jesus Christ is holding out his hand and is offering you union and fellowship with God. He is offering you God’s love, mercy, forgiveness and salvation. The One who has sent His Son to die for you has not lied to you. Turn from your sins, and take Jesus’ right hand of fellowship. Confess you are sinner and tell Jesus you want to receive Him as your Lord and Savior. This is the only way you will be saved from God’s wrath and receive eternal life with Him in heaven.
What will you do? Which road will you take? We plead for you, in the name of Jesus, to turn right.
